Nike Womens Marathon

This past weekend I took a short vacation to support my friend Thao in her 2nd full marathon. What a crazy weekend first and foremost, I was totally unprepared for San Francisco both trip and weather wise. The photo above was at about 5-6am on Sunday/Race day in Union Square, which had over 30,000 people in attendance!!

One of Thao at the start of the race! Things started off pretty slowly, but the vibe and energy that’s there is inspiring! Being Half awake trying to spot your friends in a sea of people is pretty challenging! Someone needs to make a relatively affordable GPS unit so people can locate their friends/status during the race. Facebook updates were very intermittent and not very accurate, and Google’s Latitude was off….at one point Thao was in the ocean according to it.

Decided to play around with the shutter since I didnt know these people! I was day-dreaming of a latte at this point in time….

The view was spectacular as a runner. At the end of this picture there’s a bend that wraps around with a view of the coast. It must have been breath-taking. By the way, about 1.5-2hrs in it started to rain and didn’t end until about 7pm when we got dinner.

Being soaking wet, hungry and a little upset I was so unprepared I managed to catch Thao approaching the Finish line! Thank goodness!! If i missed the shot I was going to lose my head. I’m not used to NOT having credentials anywhere!!

Seeking dry shelter in the back of the “Team In Training” tent. Drying off and re-hydrating ourselves we took this time for a photo-op with the cheer team! Congrats to Thao, Anna, Jess, and Gen for completing the marathon! I had a great time with everyone! Also it was very cool being with Jacob and Thao outside a drift event.
